How to Request Materials

There are two ways to request materials.

1. Fill out a Reserve Request at the library. You may also call in a request and we will place the hold for you.

2. Do a Patron Placed Hold (PPH). You can electronically request any circulating item that you find the C/W MARS Catalog. All you need to do is conduct your search and click on the title of the item you want.  When the record displays, just click on the “Request” button, which is located on the top of the screen.  Follow the onscreen instructions, providing your library card number and personal identification number.

When can I request an item?
You can request an item when it is checked out or when it is not in the South Hadley Public Library collection. We are able to borrow materials from other libraries locally, regionally, and nationally.

What can I request?
You can request books, DVD's, videos, sound cassettes, magazines, and CD-ROMS. We can not promise that we will be able to fill your request, but we will try our best to get you what you are looking for.

How long will it take to receive my request?
This is completely variable, from the next day to four weeks. It all depends on the availability of what it is you are requesting. The general guideline is about a week, although you may want to ask us to get a more specific timeframe if you have a deadline.

How will I be notified?
Via email if you provide us with your current email address, or by phone.

How long will you hold an item?
We will hold your requests at the circulation desk for up to seven days from the time of notification.

What if I put in a request or receive notification and I no longer need the item?
You can cancel a request online, or call the Library and we will cancel the request for you.
